In 2023 women are still experiencing discrimination in multiple forms. In some aspects more, in others less, but we are still very far from gender equality.
UNESCO and the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2021 both found that the time needed to close the gender gap worldwide has increased from 99.5 years to 135.6 years.
On the other hand we have the data which shows that 69% of global health organizations are led by men, 80% of board chairs are men. And when it comes to their earnings, women earn on average 28% less than their male counterparts, or to put it differently women in medicine earn 82 cents for every dollar earned by men.
In this episode of YouthSquad, where we talk about relevant topics from the perspective of young people, we will talk about what the opportunities are for young women aspiring to be successful in the field of medicine. And, who better to talk about this topic than a young woman aspiring (and in my opinion succeeding) to be successful in the field of medicine.
