In this episode of the Lighthouse podcast, Srdjan Cvijic hosted Jinghan Zeng, a Professor of China and International Studies at Lancaster University.

Professor Zeng talked about China’s use and export of digital surveillance technologies, its advantages, and disadvantages, whether importing these technologies threatens the democracies of importing countries, and to what extent it serves the purpose of Chinese global expansion. Regarding the Safe City project and thousands of cameras installed in Belgrade by Huawei, Professor Zeng also discussed what the citizens of Serbia can expect if/when this concept comes to life.

Profesor Ceng govorio je o kineskoj upotrebi i izvozu tehnologija digitalnog nadzora, njenim prednostima i nedostacima, kao i o tome da li uvoz ovih tehnologija ugrožava demokratije zemalja uvoznica i u kojoj meri služi svrsi kineske globalne ekspanzije. Povodom Safe City projekta i hiljada kamera koje je Huawei instalirao u Beogradu, profesor Ceng razgovarao je i o tome šta građani Srbije mogu da očekuju ako/kada ovaj koncept zaživi.
